You Were Never On Your Own

 

This morning the sun shines brightly. Warming up the apple-shaped greenhouse with pink walls. Ginger really likes pink, almost all the furniture in her Spanish-styled house are pink. The sound of the river water, and the beautiful chirping of Manny, the canary who always became her morning alarm.

“Woah… Thanks for waking up, Manny,” said Ginger, who was still lying on her soft white bed.

Ginger got up and walked outside to get some fresh air. Not to forget, she stretched all the muscles in her body to feel flexible. “Good morning Manny! Good morning Grigio!” said Ginger.

“Hi, Ginger! Good morning!” replied Manny and Grigio together.

Besides Manny, Grigio, the little squirrel, always accompanies Ginger in her daily life. Although there are many other animals there, Ginger is not interested in playing with them. Ginger has very often been teased by Peppo, the banana-stealing monkey. Despite being repeatedly reminded by Airelle, the king of the forest.

“Ginger, eat these oranges every day! and you will definitely get skinny, hahaha” sneered Peppo.

“I told you that my body is thin, it’s just that I have thick fur, Peppo!” Ginger snapped and walked into the house slamming the door.

“Hey Peppo, can you just let her calm down? Why do you hate her so much? Do I have to tell Airelle again, so that you will be punished at the well?” said Grigio.

“No need to defend her, Gio, I’m sure if you and Manny must be uncomfortable being friends with Ginger? Please just join us, many want to be friends with you,” said Peppo.

Grigio who is also annoyed by Peppo’s words walks into Ginger’s house and approaches her and Manny who has been trying to comfort her. They were the only friends Ginger had; without them, Ginger could only stay in her apple house while looking at Peppo who always made fun of her.

Knowing that Ginger was in a bad mood, Manny comforted her by singing. He knew that Ginger really liked the song Superheroes by The Script. Manny’s sweet voice made Ginger forget Peppo’s scolding.

“Ginger, do you want peanut butter bread?” asked Manny.

“Yeah I want… are you going to make it for me?” answered Ginger.

“Of course. Do you also want strawberry flavored ice cream, Ginger?” said Manny.

“Wow… great idea! I want all my favorite foods,” said Ginger excitedly.

“How much do you want? Manny and I will make as much as you want…” Grigio continued.

Ginger, Manny, and Grigio had a great time together that day. Spend time in the kitchen, play  games together, and eat some food. It was half past four in the afternoon.

“Grigio! Manny! How about lying out the mats outside? Do you want?” asked Ginger.

“Hmm… I don’t want to, I want to go up into the tree,” Grigio replied.

“Ah!! How about you come with us, Ginger? Grigio and I will help you go upstairs. I’m sure you’ve never enjoyed the beauty of this forest from the top of the tree, right?” suggested Manny.

Ginger who accepted the invitation of her friends looked very excited. Arriving at the end of the top branch, Ginger felt calm in her heart. There were gentle gusts of wind, there was also the sound of birds singing from the opposite direction, the sun wanting to close its eyes, plus the very beautiful voice of Manny singing One Direction’s song, Don’t Forget Where You Belong.
